Ripples of change

Brussels, Belgium – June 9, 2025
Antonella Passani, esteemed sociologist and senior researcher at T6 Ecosystems, appeared as a featured guest on the TidalArts podcast to discuss the intersection of arts, science, and civic engagement in environmental restoration. The episode, titled  Art for Water Restoration – PartArt4OW & TidalArts", delves into the European initiative PartArt4OW, which aims to mobilize artists and local communities to address ocean and water basin challenges through participatory art practices.

During the podcast, Passani emphasized the transformative potential of creative methods in engaging citizens, especially those historically underrepresented in scientific and environmental dialogues. She outlined how PartArt4OW supports 20 participatory art initiatives (PAIs) across Europe, not only providing funding but also equipping participants with tools for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and impact evaluation.

“The project is about co-creation and trust,” Passani stated, “and ensuring that communities can be protagonists in the quest for water protection through artistic expression.”

Passani also reflected on the legacy of previous EU projects like ACTION and IMPETUS, which inspired the interdisciplinary model of PartArt4OW. By building upon these foundations, the project now aims to generate a broader cultural shift in how people perceive and interact with water systems.

The podcast is created by the TidalArts project, as part of a communication series under the Cascade Funding platform, showcasing artists and researchers working on water sustainability. The episode featuring Passani is now available at cascadefunding.eu. You can also listen to it on SpotifyYouTube and Amazon Music.
