The official press release announcing the launch of the PartArt4OW Sailing Lab is now available.
The Sailing Lab is a research and documentation sailing initiative that will cross the Mediterranean in summer 2026, connecting artists, scientists, civic society actors, and local communities engaged in participatory approaches to ocean and water sustainability.
As part of the PartArt4OW – Participatory Art For Society Engagement with Ocean and Water project, funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe Mission Ocean programme, the Sailing Lab will travel across selected Mediterranean locations to document and connect Participatory Art Initiatives (PAIs) developed within the project ecosystem.
The initiative will serve as a floating platform for research, dissemination, and creative exchange. On board a Beneteau Cyclades 50.5, researchers, documentarists, sailors, and media professionals will document participatory projects and explore how art, science, and community engagement can contribute to ocean and water sustainability.
The Sailing Lab will also host interviews, research activities, and community interactions across Mediterranean coastal regions, culminating in its arrival at the PartArt4OW Demo Day in Badalona (Barcelona) at the end of July 2026.
Institutions, researchers, artists, media representatives, and local actors interested in connecting with the Sailing Lab during its journey are invited to get in touch with the project team.
